Judge Christopher Green was appointed to the County Court bench in December of 2022. He currently presides over civil cases in the South Dade Justice Center.
Before his appointment to the bench, Judge Green was a Senior Assistant City Attorney at the City of Miami Attorney’s Office where he served as Division Chief for the litigation division. In his role as division chief, Judge Green supervised a team of trial and appellate lawyers handling civil cases in state and federal courts. His litigation practice areas included torts, wrongful death claims, section 1983 civil rights actions, land use cases, and complex commercial matters. In 2010, the Florida Bar certified Judge Green as a specialist in civil trial law. To become board certified, Judge Green had to have extensive civil jury trial experience, pass a written examination, and undergo a peer review process. Less than 7% of Florida Bar members are board-certified. In 2021, the Florida Bar recognized Judge Green for his meritorious service to the public and legal profession for his work as Chair of a Florida Bar Grievance Committee. Judge Green began his legal career as an Assistant Public Defender at the Miami-Dade County Public Defender’s Office where he handled cases ranging from misdemeanors to first degree felonies. Judge Green grew up in Miami and graduated from Christopher Columbus High School. He received his bachelor’s degree from Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri, and his law degree from Nova Southeastern University. He and is wife Elizabeth have four sons and two grandchildren. |
